J. Ludvig III

Denmark

Ludvig III’s new record is a synthesis of the many musical points in the artist’s life. Influences are culled from rap, jazz, and the kind of guitar music that some might deem “cringeworthy,” but, upon further inspection, provides the kind of timeless emotional catharsis that has been a hallmark of good rock and roll for decades.
John Chiaverina, Nina Protocol, 2024

J. Ludvig III is the solo alias of drummer and producer Jonathan Jull Ludvigsen. After carving his name with the jazz trio Athletic Progression and touring with Erika de Casier, he now channels that energy into sounds that blur the edges of jazz, alt-rock, and experimental R&B. His latest album EMOTAN, released in 2024, fuses elements of emo and hardcore with washed-out guitars and fractured vocals.
