Ingver in Gverilke
“The simplicity of the compositions, the emphasis on vocal melody, harmony and repetition, and the fine balance between the whimsical and the serious made us feel warm like a sip of homemade herbal liqueur, pulling at the audience’s heartstrings.”
Ula Kranjc Kušlan, Radio Študent
Ingver in Gverilke is a performative vocal trio with a selection of original, found and inherited songs. From polyphony to improvisation, the voice is their instrument of choice. Interweaving vocals, the trio weave a braid of voices. Their music relies on simple arrangements and repetition. They pursue the voice with movement and the movement with the voice. Their expression is inspired by punk, folk music, free jazz, Saharan blues, minimalism and the sound of various languages. In their songs, they address issues such as migration, solidarity with the oppressed, etc. In a ludic spirit, they use humour to create extremely poetic music.
