Holy Tongue began as a studio collaboration between percussionist Valentina Magaletti and producer Al Wootton. Following the release of three critically acclaimed EPs, the project expanded into a live trio with the addition of Susumu Mukai (Zongamin). In 2024, they released the album The Tumbling Psychic Joy of Now on AD 93, a hypnotic collaboration between Holy Tongue and Shackleton that fuses ritualistic dub, fractured rhythms, and deep psychedelic textures into a singularly immersive artistic statement. Their energetic live sets draw on the experimental dub of On-U-Sound, as well as the frenetic rhythms of 23 Skidoo, Liquid Liquid, and ESG. Psychedelic, free-form, and high-energy – spiritual dub dance music.
